When you live with a chronic illness, comfort and rest aren’t luxuries—they’re essential. I decided to invest in an adjustable bed because I needed to sleep with my upper body elevated to help prevent heartburn and general discomfort. Since making the switch, I’ve had fewer instances of chest pain (related to muscle issues, not heart problems), and I’ve noticed real improvements in how I feel day to day.

Why I Needed an Adjustable Bed

Before getting the bed, I tried using a wedge pillow. It helped a little, but I kept sliding off or found that the incline was just too steep for what I needed. I wanted a broader range of motion so I could fine-tune my sleep position.

Also, I’m on my feet for over 10 hours a day. By the time I get home, my legs and feet are sore and aching. Elevating my legs helps a lot with circulation and pain relief. I had been propping a pillow under my knees, but I’d always wake up to find it on the floor. I needed something more reliable.

Why I Chose Nectar

My first priority was price. I don’t have a billion dollars to drop on a bed, so I needed something budget-friendly but still well-reviewed. After three months of research, I landed on Nectar.

Here’s what stood out:

  • Good value for the price
  • Lots of positive, independent reviews
  • 365-night in-home trial
  • Free shipping
  • Forever warranty and a 10-year accidental mattress coverage plan

I paid $599 each for the Nectar Classic Adjustable Base and the Nectar Classic Mattress. With that, I also received:

  • A sheet set
  • Two cooling pillows
  • A mattress protector

Not a bad deal at all.

Concerns & Surprises

I was hesitant at first because my old spring mattress was still in good shape and had the perfect firmness for me. I worried the memory foam might be too soft and cause back issues. To my surprise, the Nectar mattress has actually helped my back feel better. The medium-firm support is just right for me.

There was a minor issue with my order, but Nectar’s customer service came through—they upgraded my base to the Comfort Premier model at no extra cost. Communication was fast and helpful, which really impressed me.

Features I Love

  • 4 USB Ports: Two on each side—I keep my phone charger plugged in at all times.
  • Underbed Lighting: Super useful, especially since I don’t love the dark.
  • Adjustable Leg Height: The legs are 8″ tall and include 2″ and 3″ extenders. I keep mine at max height for extra underbed storage.
  • Remote & App: Easy to use. I thought I’d lose the remote, but six months later, it’s still right by my bed.
  • Quiet Setup: The base weighs around 150 lbs, but once it was in place, setup was simple. Most components came pre-connected, and the instructions were clear.

A Couple of drawbacks

  • Cooling Pillows: They feel luxurious and stay cool, but they’re too soft for me as a side sleeper. Plus, my pillowcases kept slipping off—I had to add zippers and Velcro to keep them in place.
  • Fitted Sheets: The sheet set feels amazing, but the fitted sheet slips off the top part of the bed often. I haven’t found a fix yet.
  • Color Options: The included sheets only come in white. I wish there were options like black or gray.

Looking back, I absolutely would spend the $1,269.88 again. The few inconveniences are small compared to how much better I sleep now. I just wish I had made this purchase sooner—especially before my surgery, because it would have made recovery much more comfortable.
